A
Address - The unique way in which you position your body just before hitting the ball.
Alignment - How you aim your club face and body at address
B
Backswing - The first part of the swing, which ends when the club stops above your head.
Baseball Grip - A way to hold the club that keeps all ten fingers in contact with the grip of the club.
Blocked Shot - Hitting the ball straight and to the right of the target (for a right handed golfer).
Bunker - A sand filled hazard near the green or on the fairway.
C
Certified PGA Professional - A qualified teaching professional who meets or exceeds the teaching standards set by the Professional Golfers' Association.
Chip - A low running shot typically played from near the edge of the green towards the hole.
Closed Face - When the club face is pointing to the left of the intended target (for a right handed golfer).
Closed Stance - When your body alignment is pointing to the right of the intended target (for a right handed golfer).
Club Face - The part of the club head that makes contact with the ball.
Cupped Lead Wrist - When you hit with a cupped lead wrist, you are bending your lead hand backwards. The lead hand is the one closest to the hole when you set up to swing. That's the left hand for a right handed golfer.
D
Divot - A small strip of turf removed by the club head during a swing
Draw - A shot that bends slightly to the left (for a right handed golfer)
Driver - The longest club in your bag. The driver usually hits the ball the furthest.
Duff - To completely miss or mess up a shot.
E
Explosion Shot - A shot from a bunker that displaces a large amount of sand.
F
Fade - A shot that bends slightly to the right (for a right handed golfer)
Fat - Hitting the ground before you strike the ball
Flop Shot - A type of pitch shot that travels high up into the air and lands softly
Follow Through - The path of your swing after you have made impact with the ball

Grip - The manner in which you hold the club. Also, the rubber covering on the club shaft where you hold it
H
Handicap - A score adjustment system allowing those of differing skill levels to compete.
I
Impact - The moment at which the club face contacts the ball.
M
Muscle Memory - A physical phenomenon that enables your body to perform an action repeatedly in exactly the same way without consciously thinking about it
N
Neutral Grip - A grip in which a right handed player can see two knuckles of the left hand when looking down at the grip itself when addressing the ball
O
Open Face - A club face aligned to the right of the target (for a right handed golfer)
Open Stance - When your body alignment is pointing to the left of the target (for a right handed golfer) at set up.
Overlapping Grip - A grip fitting the pinky finger of the top hand over the index finger of the bottom hand.
P
Pitch - A lofted short shot to the green with a little run at the end of its flight.
Professional - Someone who is paid to play golf.
Pull - A straight shot that goes to the left of the target (for a right handed player)
Punch Shot - A low recovery shot, usually hit out of some type of trouble.
Push - A straight shot hit to the right of the target (by a right handed golfer)
Putter - A straight faced club normally used to hit the ball on the putting green.
